Harpist Kimberly Rowe writes:

When I came across a tweet from Anne Sullivan that said “I was a question on Jeopardy,” I had to investigate. It turns out that the iconic game show had referenced composer Lowell Liebermann, who was commissioned by Sullivan’s duo SPARX (with flutist Joan Sparks) to write the Sonata for Flute and Harp, Op. 56. I asked her to tell us more.

Harp in the Mountains Summer Festival
July 14-20 at Hemlock Acres, Coburn, PA

The week-long camp for young harp students is gearing up for its seventh season with the theme “Be Prepared.” We will learn how to be prepared to be a working harpist: the music you need to know, the marketing materials you must have, and how to grow your business sense as you grow your harp skills. We are opening a second cabin to accommodate more campers this year. Plan to join us for summer harp fun!

You can find more information and an application at ARSMusica.

Our Insider Focus for May: Moving On

As students prepare to move on, we need to make appropriate plans. Some are preparing for music careers, some are not, and others of us just need to sharpen our harp skills and retool for summer learning. Read what we’re doing on the Harpmastery blog.
