Welcome to harpmastery.com, my new blog. This is the place where I hope to inspire your musicianship, strengthen your playing and help you discover new insights about the way you make music and play the harp

Why am I doing this? Because over my years (okay, decades) of performing and teaching, I find I have a lot of knowledge to share. I used to think I was the only one interested in my ideas about music, music study and playing the harp, but other people seem to find my thoughts helpful, and I’m glad to find this way to pass them along.

Who am I anyway? I’m Anne Sullivan, and I have spent my life learning and loving the harp. I am a harp performer and teacher. Formerly, I taught music theory and ear training at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia for nineteen years. You can find out more on the “About” page.

Lately I have been developing online study courses for harpists to practice ear training, harp technique and other related subjects at my website arsmusica.us.  I also have started publishing downloadable harp sheet music for harp solo, harp ensemble, and flute and harp. This is also available on the ARS Musica website. I have posted articles on that site as well, and the interest in those articles led to the development of this blog. In the near future, harpmastery.com will replace that Articles page.

This is a blog in progress. Rather than wait until everything was perfect, I have chosen to launch the site now, and tweak as I go along. What does this mean for you? It means the articles will be coming your way sooner. And it means you can expect to see changes in the site’s appearance and content frequently, at least for a while.

But what can you expect to find here every time you visit? You will find lots of tips, resources, ideas and advice from experts to help you become the harpist you want to be. And I hope you will subscribe to the blog, either via RSS or, even easier, via email subscription. You can use the form on this page, and each new post will be delivered directly to your inbox as soon as it is published. You can also expect three posts per week, so you will always have plenty of ideas you can use in your practice and playing every day.
